Well we had our first meeting of the new year and got alot done. The girls talked about their cookie pre-sales and how they were doing (as a troop we have already sold over 800 boxes of cookies!) and the girls have earned an ice cream party next meeting.
We talked about the postcard exchange and getting our cards in so we can get them out. Girls that have earned the postcard exchange patch: Angela, Rachel, Emily & Abby
We also finished up working on our Art to Wear try-its for the brownies and the Juniors. The girls just have a little bit more to work on to finish up. The brownies will start work on their smart cookie try-it and Juniors will work on their cookie connection badges next meeting.

Cookie Rally 2010
Friday the girls headed to the 2010 Cookie Rally. They learned the names of the new cookies, got to taste to some cookies, play games and get excited about selling the cookies. Of course, they got their cookie order forms which quite a few couldnt wait to get! The whole troop made it, which is great since it was the first time the troop did an outing with everyone!

Christmas Sleepover & Caroling
Dec 2009
We started out by going to Jefferson park to run out all our extra energy. In groups of 4 the girls went to the dollar store and armed with a list and money of their own, they picked out a present for everyone on their list. They then paid for and got their change. Once all the girls had a chance to go Christmas shopping for their families and they were done playing at the park we headed back to the center.
The girls set up their beds, started making note cards and wrapping their own presents. For dinner they had pizza & salad while they watched Christmas shows. After dinner the girls made smores for dessert. After dessert the girls made gingerbread houses. All during this time the girls were also doing their hair and dressing up for their pop star photo shoots.
After everyone was done it was 1 in the morning and the girls were ready for another Christmas movie as they settled down for the night.
The next morning they slept in and got up to hot chocolate, donuts and fresh fruit. After they were awake enough to tackle it they cleaned up and then it was time for home.
Caroling
The girls love to go caroling. In a safe retirement community the girls walk along the street singing Christmas Carols. We gave them a bunch of glow bracelets to decorate themselves with since we were going at night. Their favorite carol Rudolph the Reindeer

Thanksgiving Feast
Nov 2009
The girls all brought a piece of dinner. They decorated the tables and had a feast with their sister girl scouts. A couple of the girls tried sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie for the first time. We were thankful everyone was able to make it to the dinner.

Two Rivers Halloween Carnival
Oct 2009
The girls got dressed in their costumes and headed to the Halloween Carnival where they set up stations. They made and decorated bags, made candy scarecrows, did a cake walk and played more carnival games. Then for a special snack they had popcorn balls and made pudding graveyards. They danced to Miley's Hoedown and had lots of fun

Brownie Weekend
Sept 2009
Our first sleep over! How cool was it! We arrived Friday night to find out the girls got to have their very own cabin! We met up and walked up to the bon fire and had smores and sang songs around the camp fire.
Back to the cabins where they had a hard time going to bed :) The next day they were up at 4:30 and playing hide and seek! After breakfast the girls went and made some tie-dyed shirts, and played a game of kick ball. After lunch the girls went on a nature hike and did some stretching then it was time for a balloon party! After the balloon party they got to swap their swaps and have some troop time. After dinner the girls met at the lodge where they told stories and did skits. Then it was time for group movie before bedtime. The girls were all so tired they fell asleep during the movie!
The next morning they got up and packed up swearing they never wanted to leave. After cleaning up and breakfast we made the four hour drive back home.
The girls cant wait to go to camp again!

Our first Sleepover!
August 2009
The girls all stayed over for our first official sleep over. We kept them pretty busy as the Brownies worked to complete 5 try-its and Daisy's earned 5 fun patches that corresponded to the try-its.
The earned the make-it eat-it try-it by making a salad, making sloppy joe's, making a fruit salad and planting some vegetables.
They earned the me and my shadow try-it. They played a game of shadow tag, traced each others profile on the wall, made shadow animals on the wall and did shadow boxes for an animal of their choice
They earned the computer smarts try-it. They learned to use the browser to find the girl scouts web site, they visited the links section of Just for Girls, they explored yahooligans and finally played a game online.
They also earned the point, click and go try-it. They learned all about the different pieces of the computer, worked on a group story, played a game online and created a card for a friend.
Finally they wanted to earn a make-up/hair try it so we looked high and low and found the fun with make-up try-it from the Columbia river council. The girls did each others hair, made lip gloss, tried make-up on each other and talked about different songs they could sing while brushing their teeth.
Okay so if that didn't exhaust them, we made ice cream sundays at 1 in the morning, got popcorn and played movies. By 4am everyone was sound asleep. We woke them up early to clean up and have belgium waffles and fruit for breakfast. Whew what a night!

Mesa Museum of Natural History
July 2009
The kids had fun going through the different time periods. The dinosaur displays were amazing! The girls enjoyed the gold mining the best though! They also saw Indian displays, old fashioned jail, stage coaches, tried to put together a dinosaur puzzle and put themselves in the movies. After wandering around for a couple hours and a quick snack the girls were ready to leave

Pool Party & 4th of July Party
July 2009
Pool Party for Early Registration
Well who would think it would rain and end our fun early?? Good thing is we got to swim and have fun most of the time :) The girls loved playing around with each other in the three different pool areas. Quite a few of the girls tried out the diving boards but most of the time was spent on the water slides.
4th of July
The girls had a small celebration during the meeting. They decorated their own "flag Cake" and learned about the flag.

Phoenix Zoo & Sunsplash
May 2009
May 9th 2009 -Phoenix Zoo
The girls had an amazing opportunity! Interested in earning a special elephant try-it from the Saharo Council because while they were on the Zoo overnight they heard a couple funny stories about the elephants being mischievous so I contacted the zoo who was only to happy to have the girls do a special service project for the elephants. The girls paper mached punching ball balloons then painted them with non-toxic paint and popped the balloons. The big balls were for the elephants to play with. Since the girls were already going to the zoo for the Girls for a Green Planet this was a perfect time to earn that Elephant badge!
First the girls met with Elephant specialists in the back enclosure. They got to learn all about the Elephants and ask any questions they had.
The specialist wasn't sure how the elephants would react to such a big ball (usually people use regular balloon size but we used the bigger punch balls).
The elephant far away spots ball and comes closer
As soon as the elephant spotted the ball it meandered closer. It moved pretty fast too!
The specialist filled the balloon with elephant treats and rolled it so it was close to the fence.
The elephant came over and sweep her trunk under the fence to roll the ball to her side of the enclosure and put her foot on the ball.
She just held it there for a second before crushing the ball and picking it up with her trunk and eating the whole thing! The girls thought that was AMAZING.
After the girls went playing in the splash pad and got soaked!
After they had cooled down we headed up to the Girls for a Green Planet where the girls went from booth to booth collecting treats, prizes and doing some craft projects. They got to decorate bags, see how decomposing works. They won prizes and had alot of fun.
Next was lunch time:
After lunch it was time to explore the zoo. It was so hot we decided to take the train around to see all the animals.
It was a great day!
May 16th Special 500 party-Sunsplash
Two of the girls got to go to Sunsplash as a reward for selling more then 500 boxes of cookies. They each got to bring one person and they both got in free. They also had all you can eat lunch and drinks were available all day. It was so cute because it was their first experience with slides and wave pool.

Police Station Visit
July 2009
We took the girls to the Apache Junction Police station. They got to see a real investigation going on (sadly a 2 year old had been kidnapped the night before). They got to see where the 911 operators sat and they explained to the girls how if they called how their address appeared on screen and how they could use satellite to see someones house. They talked about safety and using 911 appropriately. They took the girls to see the jail house where they got to go into a cell where they all agreed they wouldn't like to HAVE to stay in it. Overall the girls enjoyed their tour!

Circus
June 2009
We rode the light rail to the Circus. The girls had fun just riding the light rail! At the circus, they got to try on clown outfits, they got clown noses and walked around the three rings and saw acts done up close.
After grabbing a couple of snacks the girls headed up to their seats. They enjoyed the circus but wished it wasn't so long and there was more animals.
