April 3rd, GEAR DAY
We were lucky that most of the girls were able to go to GEAR Day at ASU. The engineering department hosted a special day for the girl scouts to come down and learn about how to become engineers. The girls got to learn all about the different degrees/fields of engineering. They concentrated on demonstrating 3 of them.
For their Chemical Engineering, they got to "solve a crime", by testing ink strains they were able to tell which of the 4 pens wrote the ransom note. They had so much solving the crime!
For electrical engineering they assembled an electrical board with wires and light bulbs and batteries to create a "steady hand game" where they had to pass a wand through wires with out touching the wires and making the light bulb light up.
For the physical engineering they created a catapult that could sling their balls. Creating it from scratch the girls had a blast putting it all together.
The girls absolutely enjoyed their morning spent at ASU and quite a few of the girls would now like to be engineers when they grow up. How fun!

End of the Year Party-Makutu's Island
End of the Year Party-Makutu's Island
Of course we had to celebrate the end of cookie sales and the almost end of our first complete year. The girls had such an amazing year! We were glad most of the girls were able to come and they had fun climbing in the jungle and sliding down the huge slides. They were able to run and play for hours and we had a little pizza/soda snack and they were able to stay and play for as long as they wanted.

Amazing Jakes Lock In
March 26, Amazing Jakes Lock IN
A few of us braved the Amazing Jakes Lock-In which started at 10;00pm. It was of course a blast. They had miniature golf, bowling, rock climbing, lazer tag and all their rides going all night. All you can eat Pizza & Soda from 12:00-2:00am
Course with everyone having to work all day and the girls having had school we all left around 3:00am for bed. I think the girls could have lasted longer but the adults were fading fast. Of course the girls were sound asleep by the time we left the parking lot. :)

Cookie Sells Finally Over
Whew okay so we all had a long cookie season and are so glad its finally over! Amazingly the girls had fun and sold alot of cookies! In total the girls sold 12,000 cookies! Thats a lot of boxes of cookies loaded, unloaded, reloaded and dragged around. The girls worked hard thats for sure. They had a record amount of Gift of Caring over 260 boxes! The cookies were delivered to the Apache Junction Police Department where the girls had earlier in the year gone on a tour. The Chief of Police came out to personally thank the girls for all the troops effort in collecting the boxes and assured them the police officers would love their cookie treats. The girls also delivered almost a 150 boxes to the AJ Fire Departments.
We had 5 girls sell over 1000 (3 over 2,000), 9 girls sell over 500 which is just amazing!
They will use their money to fund outings with their Troop over the next year. Way to go Girls!

Ostrich Festival
March 12-14
We were so excited to hear that we were one of the lucky groups selected to come set up a booth during the festival to sell cookies. We had to go early Friday morning to set up the booth and keep it going through Sunday evening. The girls had so much fun switching between selling cookies and exploring the festival. They got to see the Ostrich Races and went on most of the rides.

Phoenix Coyote Hockey Game
March 6th
Well we headed to the Phoenix Coyotes hockey game. They let us set up a special booth for the girls to sell Gift of Caring. Switching off to also watch the game they had a blast. The girls got their new cookies costumes and loved dancing around in them. Not only did they sell tons of cookies but they had fun watching the game. Go Coyotes!

Disney's Mary Poppin's
Feb 25th
We took the girls to Disney's Mary Poppins Broadway Musical. Unfortuneatly they had the event on a Thursday so the girls were too tired to stay the whole time so we had to leave during intermission. The show was great and the girls loved listening to the songs on the way home. Hopefully next time they will be able to stay the whole time :)
